Emphasis should be made on starting the treatment at the earliest in order to prevent further transmission of disease.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Primary caregivers and other household members should be counselled about the individual's TB treatment, cough hygiene, risk of spreading infection, and nutrition.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t

Communicating to individuals with negative test reports <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Individuals with negative test reports (active TB ruled out), should be further tested for TB infection (TBI). If TBI is confirmed, their eligibility for TB preventive treatment (TPT) should be assessed and necessary action should be taken.<\/li>\n\t
For individuals who do not have TB disease or TBI, negative test result still needs to be communicated. Broad spectrum antibiotics are prescribed for 10-14 days and most individuals are likely to improve with a course of antibiotics if they are not suffering from TB.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
