To monitor the indiscriminate use of certain antibiotics and prevent the emerging threat of resistance to antimicrobial agents<\/span><\/strong>, in 2014, the Government of India established Schedule H1 notification, which was an amendment to the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules of 1945\u2014the legislation that regulates the import, production, sale, prescription, and use of medicines. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

(1) <\/span>Schedule H1 drugs can be sold by pharmacists,only on production of a valid prescription by a registered modern medicine practitioner<\/span><\/strong>, who has a valid qualification granted by an approved authority in the modern scientific system of medicine<\/p>\n\n

(2) <\/strong><\/span>The supply of a drug specified in Schedule H1 shall be recorded in a separate register<\/strong><\/span> at the time of the supply giving the name and address of the prescriber<\/span><\/strong>, the name of the patient, the name of the drug and the quantity supplied and such records shall be maintained for three years and be open for inspection.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Mandatorily keep a copy of the prescription of drugs <\/strong><\/span>covered under Schedule H1 in a separate record and such record should be maintained for three years <\/span><\/strong>and be available for inspection.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t

The supply of a drug specified under schedule H1 shall be recorded in a separate register at the time of supply giving the name and address of the prescriber<\/span><\/strong>, the name of the patient, the name of the drug and the quantity supplied and such record shall be maintained for three years and be open for inspection (Annexure IV).<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
